MultiversX, formerly known as Elrond, is a Romanian-founded Layer 1 blockchain platform designed for high throughput, low latency, and low transaction costs through an adaptive state sharding architecture. Founded in 2017 by brothers Beniamin and Lucian Mincu along with Lucian Todea, the company rebranded to MultiversX to reflect its broader vision beyond blockchain infrastructure into metaverse and Web3 applications.
